I feel like I'm in a bad remake of Groundhog Day

I think the hardest part of being a mom is doing the same thing over and over, day after day.  I can pretend to handle the laundry, dishes, never ending cleaning, errands, extra-curricular activities, cooking, etc.  What gets me is the amount I have to get after, ie yell, at my kids for all the things they do daily.  You'd think that asking nicely yelling at them to stop doing certain things would eventually get them to stop, but not my kids.  Maybe it's the stubborn in them?  Or maybe it's just what kids do??

This has been my life for the last few months...if I've ignored your phone call, email, facebook comment, or just you in general, this is why....I've been really, really tired and grumpy, but we'll just ignore that for right now.

5:30 pm  Bedtime for Madison and Hunter

9-10 pm Feed Presley and the crash for my only 2 solid hours of sleep a night

12 am  Presley wakes up to eat

2 am  Presley wakes up to eat

4 am  Presley wakes up to eat
4:30-45 am Presley falls back asleep

5 am  Hunter wakes up

5:15 am Madison wakes up

This went on for about 2 months.  For the last 2 years Madison has been getting up before 6 am 90% of the time.  I don't think she's slept passed 6:30 am more than 3 or 4 times.  It was really rough, I'm not the best mom when I'm sleep deprived and add on a pregnancy and newborn and it's just not pretty.  Please don't try to tell me I should have just put my kids to bed later and then they would sleep in.....trust me, I tried that, I'm not completely stupid.

This is what I do all day long....Some days I think my entire neighborhood can hear the thunk, thunk, thunk of my head beating against the wall as I attempt to figure out a way for the kids to FINALLY figure out what STOP! means.

Get off my bed and PLEASE stop jumping on it

Hunter, put your underwear back on/stop playing with my ball.  That's mommy's ball, go get yours.

Hunter stop throwing toys at your siblings

Stop spinning on the chair

Get off of the treadmill

Madison, no gymnastics on the couch, and definitely don't teach your brother that

Hunter, stop running into all the furniture

Hunter, that is Presley's chair.  Get out.

Get out of the fridge

No more cheese sticks, you've already had 3 today

Get out of the pantry, I'll make you food if you're hungry

Madison, will you PLEASE stop writing on everything.  I'm soooo glad you can write now, but not every item you own is supposed to be written &/or glued upon.

Hunter, stop playing with the water and flooding the kitchen.

can you see the water?????

I have to say I've been dealing with it much better now that Presley is waking up only once again and Madison and Hunter are finally sleeping a little bit later.  They were sleeping until 7:30 am which was pure heaven but they are back to 6:15-6:30ish.  I can handle that, but I desperately miss the 7:30 sleep in time.

Anyone want 2 extra kids?

I know how you feel!!! I keep telling myself Brylie is just going through the terrible 2 stage right? Can they go through the terrible 2 for three years straight? I don't think I could handle another child....maybe when Brylie moves out I will think about having another one!!!! Good luck:)

LOL! So glad to hear that I'm not the only one! Sometimes, after he is in bed, I wonder if Ike ever heard me say something other than "No" to him that day. And WHAT is up with little boys being so destructive!?!? I TOTALLY feel your pain.

Amen, sister. Seriously... it's like they have short term memory loss or something and can't retain information for more than 5 seconds.

Oh my gosh, this post was so painfully accurate and so hilarious at the same time. So much of why I love you is because you are so real and so funny! You are such a fantastic mom and I look up to you so much - seriously - so it's validating to realize that sometimes you get tired of it all too. :) You are amazing how you do so much! I love ya tons!! And seriously I have also felt like I was in Groundhog Day as well. Too funny

I was exhausted just reading your post (the schedule of the baby feedings and then the big kids waking up so early? yowzers!) That's MOMMY ZOMBIE material right there! Oh how quickly I forget about the newborn stage. I don't do well on no sleep either. I truly turn into a monster. Glad to hear that it is getting a little better. :)
